Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and his French counterpart Stephane Le Foll signed a Memorendum of Understanding (MoU) in Tehran on Monday emphasizing the critical role of agriculture in economy and food safety and the importance of bilateral cooperation in developing agricultural and commercial ties.
At the meeting the two sides agreed on various fields of cooperation, including plant production, livestock and their health, research, as well as climate and ecology issues.
The MoU dealt with various fields such as transfer of technological know-how in fisheries, breeding, agriculture, export and import of organic gardening products including grape, apple and pear, cooperation on promotion of goat production and selection of superior breeds of cattle and sheep, health certificate and exchanging experiences on reducing antibiotics in the livestock sector and to hold study tours.
At the end of the meeting the parties agreed to support joint venture in agriculture and food sectors.
A high-ranking 150-member French economic delegation, headed by two French ministers, arrived in Iran on Sunday to explore avenues for trade ties in meetings with Iranian ministers and top officials.
